How to Apply for Federal Grants

Because of this reason there appeared many grants which are given to the educational institutions on the competition base for the particular proposals. Grant money is free and they must not be repaid.
There are many different types of grants and each candidate must prove that it needs grant money to realize particular educational program. Usually educational grants are better known as scholarships. In the most cases the grant money is given to those candidates whose programs help to develop education and which meet the community goals. The most widespread examples of the proposals are:
- Renew and development projects. For example, construction of parks and club houses, paving of streets, etc.
- Re –training programs for the working people. These programs refer to those people who are fired or retired on a pension, but still want to work and to be productive.
- Business oriented programs. The main aim of such programs is to attract new people to the world of business. It gives an opportunity for the community to receive investment and to develop.
Before applying for the federal grants the candidates have to take into consideration some facts. These facts are very important:
- The budget of the particular program, which must be approved by the provider of the grant. It is the main part of the grant program.
- Feasibility of the plan or project. All programs of the candidates must meet the goals and problems of the community and they must be true.
- Duration of the project`s realization and dates. It is very important for the planning.
Each year federal government publishes special document, which is known as Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance. In this catalog there is a list of the projects and programs which are available for the community and all candidates have to learn this catalog before applying for the grants.
